Job Opportunity: RRT Pediatrics (Travel/Contract)

Location: Mountainside, New Jersey
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM (3 shifts of 12 hours each per week)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Patient Population: Infant, Pediatric, and Adolescent


Job Description

  • Provide respiratory therapy services with a focus on ventilator management.
  • Utilize Meditech charting system.
  • Work every other weekend (Saturday/Sunday).
  • First-time travelers are accepted.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Pediatric Respiratory Therapist license in New Jersey.
  • Minimum 1.5 years of Pediatric Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year.
  • NBRC certification.
  • Experience with ventilator management.

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID) must be provided within 48 hours of signing.
  • Criminal background check within 30 days of start, including alias and multi-level searches.
  • Drug screen (10-panel urine) within 30 days of start.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility requirements.
  • Physical exam within the last 12 months confirming ability to perform essential job functions and free of communicable disease.
  • Respiratory medical clearance and on-site fit testing mandatory prior to start; must be updated annually.
  • Influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually.
  • Completion of facility-specific education and safety acknowledgments prior to start.
  • References: Two references within the last 2 years, including at least one managerial reference.
  • Employment application or resume with 7 years of work history.
  • Work history verification for at least 1 year prior to start date (New Jersey state requirement).
  • Skills checklist updated annually.

Certifications & Competencies

  • Maintain current BLS certification.
  • Additional certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP) — confirm with recruiter.
  • Pass required competency exams (medication/pharmacology, EKG/dysrhythmia, IV therapy) within 72 hours of signing.
  • Color blindness testing if job tasks require color discrimination.
  • Annual education sign-off and facility-specific training completion required.

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Annual OSHA, HIPAA, and Joint Commission training.
  • Latex allergy screening questionnaire if applicable.
  • Fit test questionnaire must be completed within 48 hours of confirmation.
  • Drug testing panel includes cocaine, amphetamines, opiates, benzodiazepines, methadone, PCP, and others.
  • Immunization requirements include proof of immunity or vaccination for:
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (titer required)
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)

Additional Notes

  • Scrub color is flexible.
  • All requests for time off (RTO) must be submitted and approved before an offer is made.
  • Candidate must bring all required documentation to orientation.
  • Facility-specific forms and consents must be completed and submitted timely.
  • Candidates with name changes must provide proof and ensure all documents reflect legal names.
  • On-site fit testing requires clean-shaven face unless religious accommodation is approved.
  • Candidates must comply with floating policies if switching between sites.

This position offers a structured 13-week travel contract with a pediatric focus, requiring specialized respiratory therapy skills and compliance with comprehensive credentialing and health requirements.
