Description

Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery

Location

  • Fredricksburg, Virginia

Employment Type

  • Travel contract
  • Contract length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

  • Unit: Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP)
  • Number of beds: 10 LDR, 3 triage, 2 OR suites
  • Staff: 30 RNs
  • Shifts:
    • Day: 1 Charge RN, 2 LDR RNs, 1 Nursery RN
    • Night: 1 Charge RN, 2 LDR RNs, 1 Nursery RN
  • Patient ratio: 2 laboring patients per 1 RN
  • Equipment: GE monitoring, Novii Wireless, Spectrum IV Pumps, CADD epidural PCA
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system: Meditech

Typical Procedures

  • Inductions
  • Cesarean sections (C/S)
  • Spontaneous vaginal deliveries (SVD)

Required Certifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) certification

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Virginia
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor, Delivery, Recovery & Postpartum (LDRP) experience, including experience within the last year
  • Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, AWHONN
  • Labor and Delivery experience
  • De-escalation skills in a healthcare setting

Work Hours

  • Approximately 36 hours per week

  • Intermediate fetal monitoring skills preferred
  • Strong communication skills
  • Friendly and team-oriented personality

Dress Code

  • Scrubs consistent with OR or unit standards

  • Work with a highly engaged nursing team with a mix of new and experienced nurses
  • Unit culture includes fun traditions such as an annual Holiday Hat Contest and a unit mascot (flamingo) known as the “Pink Ladies”
