Job Opportunity: Surgical Technologist
Position Details
- Employment Type: Contractor

Required Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist
- Prior travel experience is not recommended for first-time travelers; further approval/evaluation required
- Required Certifications: CST (Certified Surgical Technologist), BLS (Basic Life Support)
Required Skills & Surgical Specialties
- Neuro/ENT:
- Spine surgeries: Laminectomies, ALIFs, fusions, discectomies
- Cranial surgeries: Tumors, VP shunts, subdural, EVDs (no setup required)
- ENT surgeries: Neck dissections with flaps, sinus surgery (Stealth Navigation), basic ENT (tonsils), tympanoplasty
- Navigation systems: Medtronic (cranial & spine), Medtronic Stealth (ENT), Stryker & Synaptive (cranial)
- Orthopedic:
- Fractures, anterior hips, total joints, orthopedic spine, hand/podiatry
- Equipment: Hanna Table
- General Surgery:
- Breasts/plastics, vascular, laparoscopic, general oncology, genitourinary, gynecology
- Robotic surgery (Xi) – only for those with strong background and commitment beyond one contract (no training provided)
Orientation & Training
- Orientation duration: 1 to 1.5 weeks (varies by team and shift)
- Cross-training to General Main OR specialty and Urology center regardless of hiring position
- No floating to other hospitals or sites
Support & Resources
- Support team includes charge nurse, leads, supervisors (AM, PM, weekend), and manager
- Charting and equipment systems: EPIC, Alaris, Pyxis
- Surgical scrubs provided; scrub caps allowed but must be covered by surgical bouffant
- Free parking with shuttle service to/from parking structure
- On-site food options include Starbucks and cafeteria
- No call rooms available
Scheduling & Call
- Day shift start times vary between 5:30 AM and 7:00 AM
- Weekend rotation: Not applicable
- Holiday weeks: Option to work four 10-hour shifts or take holiday unpaid
- On-call requirements:
- 30-minute response time
- 8-week call schedule (subject to change)
- Call slots vary by specialty and shift (general/neuro/ortho and PM shifts)
- Weekend call 1-2 weekends per schedule, depending on specialty
This position is ideal for experienced Surgical Technologists comfortable with a variety of surgical specialties and equipment, seeking a contract role in a high-acuity, well-supported operating room environment.
