Description
Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical
Location: Pocatello, Idaho
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Nights (3 shifts of 12 hours each, 19:00–7:00)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Provide nursing care for patients with a variety of diagnoses including sepsis, CIWA, confusion, altered mental status, COPD, post-operative care, acute kidney injury, trauma, respiratory failure, bowel obstruction, pyelonephritis, cardiac conditions, diabetes, gastrointestinal conditions, isolation precautions, and suicidal ideation with medical indications.

- Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, and Geriatrics
Staffing Ratios
- Nurse to patient ratio: 1:6
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Idaho
- Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Valid Driver’s License or State ID
- Background checks including 7-year history, education verification, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
- Education verification (highest level)
- NURSYS verification for RN license
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
- Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella (positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented history)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- Completion of unit-specific skills checklist annually
- Work history verification for the past 7 years
- Completion of employment application/resume

- Proficient in nursing process across all age groups
- Ability to document thoroughly and comply with regulatory and hospital standards
- Strong judgment, patience, and professionalism in a fast-paced, changing environment
- Computer skills including Word, Excel, Outlook, and electronic medical records (Epic)
- Organizational skills with ability to prioritize workload
- Effective interpersonal and verbal communication skills
- Advanced math skills
- Critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, and decision-making abilities

- Must be willing to work varied shifts including weekends and holidays

This position requires a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse comfortable with a diverse patient population and complex medical conditions in a fast-paced night shift environment.
