Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Cardiac Telemetry

Shift Details

• Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
• Weekend coverage every other weekend (may vary based on need)
• Floating required to similar units within the hospital or nearby hospitals as needed

Patient Population & Care Focus

• Adult patients in observation status and inpatient overflow
• Common diagnoses include chest pain/acute coronary syndrome, cardiac arrhythmias, diabetes, syncope, permanent pacemaker insertion, stroke work-up (CVA/TIA), pneumonia, heart failure, COPD, sepsis, and GI bleed

Special Procedures & Responsibilities

• Cardiac/Telemetry monitoring and pulse oximetry monitoring
• Permanent pacemaker pacing
• Transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE)
• Negative pressure isolation (AFB)
• Thoracentesis and paracentesis
• Level 3 administration of continuous IV infusions and IV push medications per policy
• Patient assessment, coordination of testing and procedures
• Collaboration with providers and multidisciplinary teams to develop patient-specific care plans
• Consultations with specialty services including cardiology, general surgery, orthopedics, and neurology

Required Experience and Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in South Carolina
• Minimum 1 year of telemetry nursing experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Required Certifications and Licenses

• South Carolina Registered Nurse (RN) license
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC approved, cannot expire within 30 days of start
• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC approved, cannot expire within 30 days of start
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Medication Systems

• Experience with Pyxis and Omnicell medication dispensing systems

Additional Requirements

• Driver’s license required immediately upon signing for computer access and must be carried on duty
• Background checks including 7-year history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and others as required
• Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet physical demands
• Immunizations and health screenings including TB test, flu vaccine or exemption, Hepatitis B documentation, and others per facility policy
• Completion of online orientation modules and pass/fail testing prior to start
• Badge photo required prior to start
• Floating policy acknowledgment required
• Medication and arrhythmia competency exams required (pass/fail with 2 attempts allowed)
• Annual competency exams and core training modules required
