Description

Registered Nurse (MS/Telemetry) - Night Shift - Travel/Contract

Location

  • Towson, Maryland

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Schedule

  • Night shift (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
  • 36 hours per week (3 shifts of 12 hours)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Holidays required as scheduled
  • Block scheduling not accommodated; special scheduling requests must be submitted with request to offer (RTO)
  • Floating required within specialty and lower acuity units as needed
  • On-call required only for low census situations (on-call in lieu of call off)

Patient Population

  • Adult and Geriatric patients

Unit and Specialty Details

  • Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5
  • Common diagnoses: CHF, cellulitis, osteomyelitis, pancreatitis, post-amputation care, small bowel obstruction, atrial fibrillation/dysrhythmias, cancer, palliative care
  • Procedures and equipment: EKGs, IV drips (Cardizem, amiodarone, heparin, dopamine, dobutamine, Lasix - non-titratable within parameters), telemetry monitoring, IV pumps, oxygen, pulse oximetry, vital signs machines, sequential compression devices (SCDs), bed/chair alarms, chest tubes, Foley catheters

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland
  • Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing experience, with experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Certifications:
    • ACLS issued by the American Heart Association
    • BLS issued by the American Heart Association
    • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Background checks including 7-year criminal search, SSN trace, nationwide and county checks, sex offender registry, OFAC, education verification
  • Employment verification for previous 5-7 years
  • Two supervisory references within 1 year (one must be from a supervisor/manager, one can be a charge RN)
  • Agency application/resume completed within 30 days of start
  • Maryland State Exclusions List check within 30 days of start
  • Facility-specific documents including confidentiality agreements, badge photo, job description acknowledgment, and IT confidentiality agreement
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility protocol (annual updates required)
  • Immunizations/vaccinations or proof of immunity:
    • Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)
    • Tdap (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) if working with newborns or pediatrics (not required for this adult/geriatric unit)
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (positive titer or vaccination proof required; declination not accepted for Hep B)
  • Negative drug screen (9 or 10 panel plus fentanyl) within 30 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted)
  • Fit mask testing (N95 or equivalent) within 1 year of start
  • Respiratory Protection Questionnaire completed and signed by a medical professional

Additional Notes

  • Start date: July 6, 2026 (alternate start July 20 if compliance deadlines are not met)
  • Candidates must complete required facility and compliance paperwork promptly to avoid delays in credentialing and orientation
  • Epic Portfolio Training Test Out available for eligible candidates with prior Epic experience
  • Floating and on-call duties are part of the assignment as needed within the specialty and lower acuity units

This position is ideal for RNs with at least 2 years of experience in medical-surgical or telemetry nursing seeking a 13-week travel contract on nights in Maryland. First-time travelers are welcome.
