Job Opportunity: RRT Pediatrics (Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics)
Location: Kalamazoo, Michigan
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)

Job Description
- Provide respiratory therapy services in PICU, Pediatrics, and Adult ICU settings, with occasional adult floor therapy.
- Must be available for a full orientation week.
- Participate in leader interviews.
- No call requirement.
- Weekend work required every other weekend.
- Willingness to work with patient transport as needed.
- Typical patient load averages about 15 patients per day, varying by acuity (lower in ICU).
- Facility size: 440 beds.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Michigan.
- Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year.
- Experience working with Pediatric patients.
- Experience working with Adult patients.
- ACLS certification.
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- NRP certification.
Work Schedule & Requirements
- Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each.
- Weekend shifts every other weekend.
- No on-call duties.
- Must attend full orientation week prior to assignment start.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
- Complete E-Verify documentation as required.
- Proof of name change if applicable (legal documentation).
- Criminal background check within 45 days of start, including lifetime search from age 18, with multiple components (SSN trace, national/statewide searches, education verification, MVR, etc.).
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks.
- Michigan LARA fingerprinting required within 45 days of start.
- Education verification (copy of highest degree or diploma).
- Michigan Central Registry Clearance required (wet signature on form, time sensitive).
- Complete employment application/resume with full 7 years work history, no gaps.
- One professional reference from a supervisor or manager.
- Annual skills checklist for applicable unit.
- Orientation Safety Manual acknowledgment.
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start.
- Fit mask test (Honeywell DC365N95HC) required; must be completed onsite before or on first day.
- Proof of Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine (at least one prior Tdap).
- Negative TB test (PPD or Q Gold/T-Spot) within 30 days of start; if positive, chest x-ray and TB questionnaire required.
- Annual TB questionnaire.
- Proof of immunity or vaccination for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or documented declination.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/spiritual exemption required for candidates starting after November 1; proof or exemption must be submitted by December 1.
- 10-panel drug test including marijuana/THC within 30 days of start (instant/rapid acceptable if full panel).
Competency Requirements
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam passed with at least 80% within 1 year prior to assignment.
- Specialty competency exam passed with at least 80% within 1 year prior to assignment.
Facility Policies & Additional Requirements
- Review and sign Code of Conduct and Appearance Standards Policy prior to start.
- Complete vaccine exemption forms if applicable (medical or vaccine declination).
- Fit test appointment must be scheduled and documented with date, time, and location.
- Dosimetry history form required for Radiology specialties (not applicable here).
- References and background checks must be current and compliant with facility standards.
This position offers an opportunity to work in a high-acuity pediatric and adult ICU environment with a reputable healthcare facility in Michigan. It is suitable for respiratory therapists with at least one year of critical care experience and the required certifications, including those new to travel assignments.
