Registered Nurse - Rehab

Location: Independence, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 12 weeks

Unit Overview

• Inpatient Acute Rehab unit with 16 beds
• Patient ratio: 1 nurse to 5 patients
• Unit staffing: Patient Care Technicians (PCT) available when census is 8 or above; no unit secretary
• Equipment includes Sara Steady lift, Hoyer lift, and Alaris Pumps
• Documentation system: Meditech 5.6
• Scheduling: 3 shifts per week, every 3rd weekend required
• Floating policy: Contract and PRN staff float first to like units
• Patient experience focus: Goal setting with patients, hourly rounding, bedside shift report
• Rehab unit features all private rooms set up as Rehab Suites
• 1-week orientation included to ensure quality care on Rehab Center and other floors
• Current staff have 4+ years RN experience
• Block scheduling available upon request
• Rehab center quality metric (PEM) is 83.8, above national benchmark

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 2 years of rehabilitation nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Experience in an inpatient rehabilitation setting
• Med/Surg nursing experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Skills and Experience

• Inpatient Acute Rehab experience required
• Familiarity with FIM and CARE Tool measures
• Med/Surg nursing experience required
• Procedures performed on unit include wound care, line insertion, blood and antibiotic administration
• No advanced skills or additional certifications required

Dress Code

• Grey scrub top with black or grey scrub bottoms
