Job Opportunity: CT Tech
Location: Charlotte, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Work in a very fast-paced Emergency Department setting.
- Operate Siemens FORCE CT scanner (use of Siemens scanner is mandatory).
- Perform CT procedures including Abdomen, Pelvis, Head/Neck, Chest, Spine, Musculoskeletal, Brain Perfusion, CT Angiographies (CTAs), and Multiplanar Reconstruction.
- Patient population includes infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
- Typical daily caseload: 150-200 scans across 4 rooms.
- Weekend schedule only: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
- Shift hours: 7:45 PM to 8:15 AM (12-hour shifts).
- No call or float requirements.
- No weekend RTO (release time off) allowed.
Required Qualifications
- Valid CT Technologist license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of CT Technologist experience, including experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- ARRT(R)(CT) certification
- Experience in inpatient, acute care, emergency department, adult ICU, and trauma CT settings
- Experience operating Siemens FORCE and GE CT scanners
- Proficient in CT procedures including abdomen, pelvis, head/neck, chest, spine, musculoskeletal, brain perfusion, CT angiographies (CTAs), and multiplanar reconstruction
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with outpatient settings, IV starts, PACS, contrast administration, and Visage imaging system.
Orientation & Onboarding
- Orientation schedule is subject to change based on trainer availability.
- Final start date confirmed the Tuesday before the start week.
- Scrubs color: Royal Blue.
- Interview required prior to offer.
Equipment & Systems
- Siemens FORCE CT scanner (mandatory).
- GE scanners also used.
- Unit systems include EPIC and Visage.
Patient & Unit Details
- Emergency Department environment with routine ED patients, Code Stroke cases, and some trauma patients.
- Staffing varies by shift: 4-5 techs on first shift, 2-3 techs after 5 PM, 1 tech on third shift, and 2 techs on weekends.
- Typical 8-hour shift caseload per tech: 8-12 patients.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background checks required within 90 days of start, including local county, federal court, national criminal database, DOJ sex offender search, and education verification for highest degree earned.
- Drug screening required within 30 days of start (10-panel, negative result).
- Physical exam within 1 year of start; if past positive TB, physical within 30 days and annual updates required.
- Fit testing required (N95 or PAPR training accepted except at certain facilities).
- Immunizations and titers required: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (titer or vaccination series or facility-specific declination). Declinations generally not accepted except for Hep B with specific form.
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within required timeframes.
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season; exemptions require documentation and mask-wearing if approved.
- Various facility-specific documents and agreements must be completed prior to start, including confidentiality agreement, education modules, and compliance training.
- Radiation badge required for CT techs; process initiated upon assignment.
- North Carolina state-specific registry and exclusion list checks required within 90 days prior to start.
Additional Notes
- No weekend RTO allowed; call-offs or additional RTO may lead to cancellation or denial of rehire.
- Must provide professional references as per agency requirements.
- Candidates must be prepared to complete all required education and competency exams as applicable.
- Candidates must provide a passport-style photo on a white background for badge creation immediately after signing contract to avoid start delays.
- Candidates must complete the Corp ID and I-Learn account setup within 24 hours of receiving instructions to avoid delays.
Schedule & Hours
- 3 shifts per week (Friday, Saturday, Sunday).
- 12-hour shifts from 7:45 PM to 8:15 AM.
- Total 36 hours per week.
This position is ideal for CT Technologists with experience in emergency and trauma settings who are comfortable working weekend night shifts and operating Siemens FORCE CT scanners in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
