Description
Job Opportunity: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)
Location
- Salem, Massachusetts
Employment Type
- Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- 36 hours per week
- Rotating shifts including Days, Evenings, and Nights
- Rotation includes Day Rotate shifts (7a-7p, 11a-11p, 7p-7a) when requested; rotation frequency is low
- Night position does not rotate
- Every Other Weekend (EOW) required
Unit Description
- 65-bed Emergency Department
- Pod-based layout with separate pediatric pod and separate Acute Mental Health area
- Patient census approximately 230 visits per day
- Clinician to patient ratio: 1:4
- Patient population: All ages and conditions
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Nursing experience within the last year
Required Skills
- General Emergency Department nursing skills including:
- Patient assessment and documentation
- IV therapy and phlebotomy
- EKG and cardiac monitoring
- Point of care testing
- Splinting
- Critical thinking
- Patient education
Certifications Required
- AHA Certified Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) issued by American Heart Association or Red Cross
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
Preferred Certifications
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
Floating
- Floating to other units is required
Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System
- EPIC – ASAP
Required Licensure
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Massachusetts
Health and Compliance Requirements
- N95 Fit Test within 365 days prior to start date, updated annually (no exemptions allowed)
- Respirator Medical Clearance attestation required if fit test is needed
- Documentation of TB screening within 3 months of start date, updated if break >6 months
- Documentation of MMR immunity or vaccination
- Physician health statement within 365 days of start date, updated if break >6 months
- Criminal background check within 45 days prior to start date, updated if break >6 months
- Massachusetts CORI background check within 30 days prior to start date, updated if break >6 months
- National sex offender registry check within 30 days prior to start date, updated annually
- Exclusion checks (OIG, GSA, MassHealth, NH Medicaid) within 30 days prior to start date, updated annually
- Education verification of highest level completed
- Social Security Number trace for past 7 years addresses/employment/schooling
Required Testing and Exams
- Medication exam with 80% passing score within 365 days
- Advanced dysrhythmia exam with 80% passing score
Submission Requirements
- Resume including past 7 years of work experience with city and state
- Two professional references within 4 years, including at least one supervisor or higher
- Skills checklist completed within 1 year
- Candidate submission coversheet (current version)

- Must be able to work rotating shifts and float as needed

Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or Red Cross
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
