Job Opportunity: Critical Care ICU Nurse (RN)

Position Details

• Employment Type: Contractor
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour Day Shift
• Hours per Week: 36

Unit and Patient Information

• Lower acuity ICU setting
• Patient types include general ICU, stroke (TNK), COVID, medical, surgical, behavioral health, overdoses, post cardiac arrest, ventilated patients
• Patient-to-nurse ratio: 1:2-3 (acuity based, days and nights)
• Must be comfortable floating to the Cardiac unit

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)

Required Skills and Experience

• Valid RN license in Wisconsin
• Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Line management experience
• Proning experience

Support and Resources on Unit

• CNA support with a ratio of 1:7
• Charge nurse available and will take patient assignments
• Phlebotomy available for peripheral blood draws
• IV/VAT team available during day shifts (Monday, Wednesday, Friday)
• Respiratory Therapist available 24/7
• Hospitalist coverage 24/7
• ICU Educator on staff
• Occupational, Physical, and Speech Therapy available weekdays with variable weekend coverage
• Intensivist coverage from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM; eICU coverage from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM

Orientation and Scheduling

• One shift orientation to learn unit flow
• Weekend rotation every other weekend (default)
• Time off approval up to 7 days (default)
• On-call and holiday expectations vary based on unit needs

Technology and Equipment

• Charting system: EPIC
• Equipment: Alaris infusion pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing system
