Job Opportunity: Ultrasound Tech - General
Location: Kennewick, Washington
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day (3x12 hours, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM) or Night (3x12 hours, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
Hours per Week: 36
Job Description
- Position does not float between units.
- No on-call required.
- Weekend work required every other weekend.
- No block schedules required.
- Work setting: 16-bed Emergency Room.
- Sonographer must be comfortable scanning neonates, infants, and pediatrics for conditions including intussusception, pyloric stenosis, and appendicitis.
- 48-hour shifts are not approved.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Pediatric Ultrasound Technologist.
- Recent experience (within the last year) working as a Pediatric Ultrasound Technologist.
- Experience working with infant, neonate, or pediatric patients.
- General experience as an Ultrasound Technologist.
Work Environment & Expectations
- Work primarily in an Emergency Room setting with pediatric and neonatal patients.
- Comfortable performing specialized pediatric scans for specific conditions.
- Weekend shifts every other weekend are mandatory.
- No on-call or floating to other units.
Compliance & Background Requirements
Background Checks
- Must have a background check within 90 days of start covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years.
- Background checks must include SSN trace, death master index, nationwide and county checks, sex offender registry, education verification, and other applicable searches.
- Background checks updated annually.
- Specific state and facility searches required for Washington placements.
Employment History & References
- Minimum of 2 references covering at least 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting.
- Employment application must include at least the last 5 years of employment with explanations for any gaps or overlaps.
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, indicating ability to work with or without accommodation.
- Fit mask test required for travel candidates, updated annually.
- Immunizations and/or proof of immunity required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination accepted)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer or declination)
- Hepatitis B (vaccination series or signed declination)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer or declination)
- Seasonal Flu vaccine during flu season or declination
- COVID vaccination record preferred; declinations accepted with adherence to infection control policies.
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months, updated annually.
- Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (instant acceptable).
Training & Competency Requirements
- Completion of annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS (Workramp).
- Competency exams as applicable by profession and specialty.
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam required as applicable.
- Color blindness testing may be required on a unit basis.
- Epic training transcripts required for certain hospital systems.

- Some state-specific attestations and forms may be required for Washington nurses with out-of-state compact licenses.
- Oregon-specific abuse/neglect searches and consent forms required only if assigned to certain facilities (not applicable here).
- Floating policy acknowledgment required; however, this position does not float between units.
