Ultrasonographer - General (Contract)

Location: Lewiston, Maine
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days, On-Call (7am - 9pm) weekends/holidays (No weeknight or overnight call)

Job Summary

Perform routine and specialized sonographic testing, including emergency on-call coverage. Support patient testing with clinical assessments, operate ultrasound equipment, and produce high-quality sonograms. Provide patient care, education, and maintain accurate records and documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform general ultrasound examinations and procedures, including interventional procedures (e.g., biopsy).
• Prepare patients and explain procedures.
• Correlate clinical history with sonographic testing.
• Operate and maintain complex ultrasound equipment and select appropriate transducers.
• Differentiate artifacts from normal/pathological findings and adapt protocols as needed.
• Provide on-call emergency coverage as required.
• Maintain accurate EMR documentation and scheduling coordination.
• Collaborate with physicians, radiologists, and scheduling teams to ensure smooth patient throughput.
• Support student learning and contribute to a welcoming educational environment.
• Complete annual compliance courses and maintain required certifications.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Ultrasound Technologist.
• Recent Ultrasound Technologist experience within the last year.
• ARDMS certification required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
