Description
Registered Nurse - ER (North Carolina, Greensboro)
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Nights, 3 shifts of 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Weekend Requirement: 2 weekend shifts or 4 weekend days every 6 weeks
- Holidays: As needed
- No on-call required
- Unit: Emergency Department (ED)
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Emergency Department required
- First-time travelers are welcome (prior travel experience not required)
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC certified
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC certified
- NIH Stroke Certification (required for all ER RNs at this facility)
- Pass/Fail EKG (Dysrhythmia) Exam - must pass with minimum 82% (2 attempts allowed)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - preferred but not required
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - preferred
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - preferred
- EPIC electronic health record system proficiency required
Required Licenses
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for North Carolina
- Primary source license verification required within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification required within 60 days of start
Compliance & Background Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Social Security Card (required for badge issuance)
- Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including:
- Social Security Trace with all aliases
- National Criminal Search
- Federal Court and Sex Offender Registry
- Education Verification (primary source)
- International education equivalency evaluation if applicable
- Employment verification for last 5 years through third-party vendor
- 2 supervisory references required (at least one within 12 months prior to start)
- Employment application/resume with 7-year work history
- Annual skills checklist with a one-week grace period for renewal
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug test within 40 days of start (includes THC, opiates, cocaine, amphetamines, etc.)
- Fingerprinting (NC SBI) required only for Home Health and Long-Term Care positions (not required for this ED role)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam (if applicable) within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test (N95) completed within current calendar year and updated annually
- Adult Tdap vaccine proof required
- Negative TB test (Qgold/TSPOT) within 6 months of start or chest X-ray if history positive
- TB Questionnaire within 30 days of start and updated annually
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity via positive titer or 2 vaccines at least 28 days apart
- Hepatitis B immunity or declination documentation
- Varicella immunity via positive titer or 2 vaccines at least 28 days apart
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept 22 – Feb 27)
Additional Requirements
- Candidate must be flexible with scheduling and aware of zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
- Must complete mandatory Pass/Fail EKG exam prior to start
- Candidate must submit a professional badge photo meeting strict facility guidelines (no selfies, no hats, solid color background, business casual or uniform attire)
- Must complete orientation safety manual acknowledgement
- Must complete facility-specific onboarding tasks including Workday login and multi-factor authentication setup prior to start
- Candidate must review and sign floating policy and contractor equipment acknowledgement form
- Candidate must complete and upload health history form including any physician-mandated work restrictions
Preferred Experience
- Previous Charge RN experience
- Level 2 Trauma experience
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
- Current ACLS certification
- Current BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Medication Administration Board (MAB) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience in Charge Nurse roles
- Proficiency with Epic electronic health record system
