Description
Job Opportunity: Certified OR Tech / Surgical Tech (CST)
Location: Largo, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Start Date: July 13, 2026
Job Description
- Work schedule: Four 10-hour day shifts per week (8:45 AM – 7:15 PM)
- Must be flexible to occasionally rotate to other shifts if needed
- Weekend/on-call required: one weekend per month and up to 6-7 pre-scheduled on-call shifts in a 4-week period
- Floating within the specialty/department may be required
- Patient age range: Adolescents through Geriatrics
- Operating rooms: 8 rooms
- Strong neuro and orthopedic surgical experience is a hard requirement
Required Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist with a minimum of 2 years of experience
- Surgical Technologist experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification
- Strong neuro and orthopedic surgical experience
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- I-9 attestation and E-Verify compliance
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, SSN trace, nationwide and sex offender searches, education verification, and state-specific exclusions
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start
- Immunizations/vaccinations or proof of immunity required for:
- TB (negative test or chest X-ray as applicable)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (if working with children)
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (positive titer or vaccination/declination as applicable)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (for 2025-26 season)
- COVID vaccine not required for this location but documentation or declination collected for tracking
- Two supervisory references within 1 year of start
- Employment application/resume completed within 30 days of start
- Verification of previous 5 years of employment history
Competency Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (score 80% or higher)
- Age-specific competency exam (score 80% or higher)
- Color blindness testing
- Other competency exams as applicable by profession/specialty
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Passport-style photo with solid white or beige background for badge
- Signed job description prior to start
- Confidentiality agreement signed prior to start
- Dress code review prior to start
- Latex allergy questionnaire completion
- Security ID application within 72 hours of signing contract
- Epic Portfolio Training Test Out Form completion if applicable
Additional Notes
- Prior travel experience is not required for this position
- Candidate must be able to work scheduled holidays as they fall
- Felony convictions within the past 5 years are an automatic disqualification
- Candidates with felonies older than 5 years require a statement and client review
This position offers a structured schedule with a focus on surgical services requiring strong neuro and orthopedic experience. Compliance with extensive credentialing, background, and health documentation is mandatory.
