Description
Registered Nurse - MS/Telemetry (Travel/Contract)
Location: Charlotte, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Night shift: 12-hour shifts, 18:45 - 07:15, 3 shifts per week (36 hours/week)
- Patient ratio: 5:1 (can run 1 over to 6:1)
- Floating required within the service line as needed
- Weekend requirement: 3 weekends (6 weekend shifts) every 6 weeks
- Self-scheduling with leadership balancing needs and RTO
- No call requirement
- Unit cares for pulmonary and general medical patients including trach, COPD, asthma, chest tubes, and oxygen support (BiPAP/CPAP, no vents)
- Unit systems: EPIC, PYXIS, SBAR
- Scrubs: Navy blue and white (any combination), not provided
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry experience, with experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Skills in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
Patient Population & Unit Details
- Pulmonary patients including tracheostomy care, chest tubes, BiPAP/CPAP oxygen support
- General medical patients with longer lengths of stay
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background check within 6 months for clinical candidates
- Drug screening (9-panel, within 6 months)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year (or documentation of past positive TB with appropriate follow-up)
- Required immunizations and titers: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- Physical exam not required for this crisis profile
- Medication Safety training certificate required prior to start
- Annual compliance and facility-specific education modules required
- Photo for badge (passport style, white background, business attire) must be submitted immediately after signing contract
- Corporate ID setup and I-Learn login required within 24 hours of receiving email instructions to avoid start delays
- Confidentiality agreement and hospital policies acknowledgment required
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season; mask required if exempted
Additional Notes
- RTO (Return to Office) after booking is not allowed and cannot be worked out onsite; excessive call-offs or RTO may lead to cancellation
- Must complete Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam within 72 hours of start
- Floating within the service line is mandatory as needed
- No call requirement for this position
- Candidates must complete required facility-specific education and compliance training prior to start
- Navy blue and white scrubs required; not provided onsite
Shift Details
- Night shift only
- 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (total 36 hours/week)
- Weekend coverage required as specified
This position is ideal for RNs with telemetry experience who are comfortable managing pulmonary and general medical patients on a night shift schedule, including floating within the service line. First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.
