Description
Registered Nurse (Medical/Surgical) – Long-Term Assignment
Location: Boston, Massachusetts
Shift: 12-hour day/night rotating
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Provide safe, competent, and individualized nursing care to medical/surgical patients.
- Interpret medical care plans and assess patients’ clinical conditions.
- Administer medications and monitor for reactions or side effects.
- Record vital signs and medical information accurately.
- Monitor and report changes in patient conditions.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
- Modify treatment plans based on patient responses.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts.
- Minimum of 3 years of Medical/Surgical nursing experience, with experience within the last year.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Health and Safety Requirements
- N95 Respirator Fit Test completed within 1 year prior to start date and updated annually (no exemptions allowed).
- Respirator Medical Clearance attestation required if fit test is needed.
- Documentation of TB screening (skin test or blood test) within 3 months of start date, updated if there is a break longer than 6 months.
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) vaccination documentation or proof of immunity required.
- Physician-signed health statement within 1 year of start date, updated if break exceeds 6 months.
- Criminal background check, including Massachusetts CORI, national sex offender registry, and exclusion checks, completed within required timeframes and updated as needed.
- Social Security Number trace and education verification required.
- Additional health and compliance attestations as part of onboarding.
Documentation and Submission Requirements
- Resume including last 7 years of work experience with city and state details.
- Two professional references within the last 4 years, including at least one supervisor or higher.
- Skills checklist completed within 1 year of submission.
- Candidate submission coversheet required for initial assignment.
- Confirmation of assignment form required upon acceptance and for any extensions.
- Name change documentation if legal name differs from credential documentation.
Additional Information
- No religious or medical exemptions allowed for N95 fit testing.
- Fit testing cannot be performed onsite; must be completed prior to start.
- Background checks include international residence or travel exceeding 30 consecutive days within the last 7 years.
- All required verifications and attestations must be current and uploaded as part of onboarding.
This position is ideal for experienced Medical/Surgical RNs seeking a rotating 12-hour shift assignment in a major metropolitan area with comprehensive credentialing and compliance requirements.
