Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse
Location: Tyler, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- Day shift: 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM
- Monday through Friday (5 days/week)
- Call required
Requirements / Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Texas
- Minimum 1.5 years of Operating Room (OR) experience
- OR experience within the last year
- One completed travel assignment
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience in Orthopedics
- Experience in Neurology
- Experience in Vascular Surgery
- Experience in Urology
Documentation & Compliance Requirements
Licensure & Verification
- Valid Registered Nurse license for Texas with primary source online verification
- NURSYS verification required
- Driver’s License or State ID required
- Complete employment application/resume
- 7-year work history verification
- Background checks including:
- 7-year background check updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks upon hire
- Education verification (transcript or diploma acceptable if verification pending)
Certifications (as applicable)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- CHEMO (Chemotherapy certification)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
- Tech Cert Verification (if applicable)
Competencies
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (minimum 80% or meet Angoff score)
- Color blindness testing (online acceptable)
- Core competency exams (as applicable)
Health & Immunization
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually (specific mask types accepted)
- Adult Tdap vaccine within 10 years (no declinations except approved medical exemptions)
- Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGOLD, or TSPOT) within 1 year
- TB questionnaire within 90 days if positive TB test
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters required if titers negative or equivocal
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination accepted
- Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented chickenpox history required
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31)
