Description

Registered Nurse - Emergency Room (Night Shift)

Location: Titusville, Florida
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Night, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
  • Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 6 patients
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Float: Required within scope of practice
  • Schedule Flexibility: Block scheduling considered case-by-case
  • Return to Office (RTO) Policy:
    • RTO allowed up to 10 days total, requiring an additional 2 weeks added to assignment length
    • No RTO during first or last week of assignment
  • Local Candidates: Not accepted; must live more than 30 miles from facility
  • Call-Out Policy:
    • 3 call-outs result in termination
    • Shift change refusals with less than 48 hours’ notice may forfeit guaranteed hours
    • Shift change refusals with 1 week or more notice may result in termination
  • Holiday Work Requirements:
    • If 1-2 holidays fall within assignment: work 1 evening and 1 holiday shift
    • If 3 holidays fall within assignment: work 1 evening and 2 holiday shifts

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 2.5 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • Minimum 1 year of neuro/stroke nursing experience
  • Experience caring for Level 1 Trauma patients
  • Completion of 2 previous travel nursing assignments

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Licensure

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Florida

Education

  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Facility & Work Environment

  • Acute Care Hospital with 210 staffed beds
  • Charting system: Meditech
  • Scrub color: Any allowed; no tee shirts, sweatshirts, or logos from other organizations
  • Free parking in any unrestricted space

Compliance & Onboarding Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Background check within 6 months including: Social Security trace, county, nationwide, sex offender, education verification, and MVR if driving is required
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
  • Education verification of highest nursing degree (ASN, BSN, or MSN) required; transcript/diploma acceptable as placeholder
  • Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start (Livescan electronic fingerprinting)
  • Physical exam within 6 months of start
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start (with additional requirements if history of positive TB)
  • 9-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (instant tests not accepted)
  • Required vaccinations or documented immunity/waivers for:
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
    • Seasonal Flu (vaccine or declination)
    • COVID-19 (vaccine or religious/medical exemption)
  • Completion of facility-specific orientation modules and quizzes prior to start
  • Performance evaluation within last year if previously worked through any agency
  • Two professional references within last two years
  • Skills checklist required

Additional Notes

  • Fit testing for masks will be completed onsite during first week
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exams required with passing score of 84% or higher
  • Color blindness testing required through online platform with minimum 80% score
  • Multiple facility-specific documents and acknowledgments must be reviewed and signed prior to or at start

This position is ideal for experienced ED nurses with neuro/stroke expertise who have prior travel nursing experience and are ready for a night shift travel assignment in Florida.
