Description

Registered Nurse - CVOR (Travel/Contract)

Location: Winston Salem, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: 10-hour days, Monday to Friday, 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Call: 10 days per month, including one weekend per month
  • Unit: Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) with 3 rooms
  • Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics (20s to 90s)
  • Procedures: Includes aortic and mitral valve surgeries, ASD, redo surgeries, esophagogastrectomy, CABG (with/without valve repair/replacement), VATS, thoracotomy, mediastinoscopy, mitral clip, TAVR, aneurysm repair, groin exploration, port-a-cath placement, robotic thoracic surgery, carotid endarterectomy, IABP insertion/removal, myxoma removal, pneumonectomy, chamberlin procedure, tracheostomy, VSD
  • Technology: PYXIS, EPIC, SBAR communication

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience, with CVOR experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification issued by American Heart Association
  • Circulate skills with OR circulate experience

Orientation & Training

  • Orientation duration: 36 hours
  • Scrubs provided onsite
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 72 hours of start (score 82%+ to pass)
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exams and other facility-required competencies apply
  • Must complete facility-specific education and compliance training modules prior to or during assignment

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start (with exceptions for past positives)
  • Required immunizations/titers: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • Drug screening within 6 months of start (9-panel or instant acceptable)
  • N95 fit mask required (can be completed onsite if needed)
  • Flu vaccination or approved exemption with mask-wearing during flu season
  • Physical exam not required for this crisis assignment

Documentation & Compliance

  • Background check within 6 months for clinical candidates
  • Education verification for highest degree earned
  • Photo ID (passport-style photo on white background) required immediately after signing contract for badge creation
  • Must complete confidentiality agreement, hospital policies acknowledgment, and other facility-specific forms
  • Must complete online training modules including medication safety, annual compliance, and facility orientation
  • Corp ID setup and I-Learn login required within 24 hours of receiving credentials to avoid start delays

Additional Notes

  • No return-to-office (RTO) after booking allowed; call-offs or additional RTO may lead to cancellation
  • Interview with manager required before offer
  • Unit accepts contracts for 13 weeks
  • Candidates must be prepared for a fast-paced, high-acuity CVOR environment with a wide variety of complex cardiac and thoracic procedures
