Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical

Location: Beaufort, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (with possible extension)
Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours

Unit Profile

• 4T Medical Surgical unit
• 29-bed general surgical and orthopedic unit with medical overflow
• Nurses float to the stepdown/PCU unit as needed

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in South Carolina
• Minimum of 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Valid Driver's License

Orientation & Training

• Completion of approximately 81 Relias modules prior to first shift and orientation
• Orientation time up to 8 hours allowed

Documentation & Compliance Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried during work hours
• Criminal background check within 30 days of start (for new candidates)
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and for every contract renewal
• Primary source verification of South Carolina RN license (NURSYS verification required)
• Proof of 2 clinical references
• Performance evaluation required if previously completed assignments through any agency
• Complete application/resume and skills checklist (updated annually)
• Physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands of the position
• Drug testing: 10-panel within 30 days of start (instant tests not accepted)
• Immunizations or titers required (or facility-specific declination forms):

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
  • Hepatitis B (positive titer or vaccine series)
  • Varicella
  • Seasonal Flu vaccination or declination
  • COVID vaccination or declination
• Badge photo required (no hats, sunglasses, filters, or altered images)

Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BCLS) – AHA only
• NIH Stroke Certification (required for Med Surg RNs)

Work Schedule Notes

• Weekdays, every other weekend, float, and holidays as needed
• Scrubs not provided; dress code colors: royal blue/white
• EMR system: Meditech

This position is ideal for RNs with solid Medical Surgical and stepdown/PCU experience who are licensed in South Carolina and looking for a travel contract opportunity with a reputable surgical and ortho unit.
