Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Women's Health and Obstetrics
Position Details
- Employment Type: Contractor
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 12-hour Night Shift
- Hours per Week: 36
Facility Overview
- Level IV Trauma Center
- Primary Stroke Center
- 74 beds total
- Obstetrics unit includes:
- 8 labor beds
- 1 antepartum bed
- 3 triage bays
- 12 post-partum beds
Patient Population
- Laboring patients including cesarean sections
- Mother/baby care
- OB triage
- Antepartum care
- High-risk patients with more complex cases transferred to a sister facility
Patient Ratios
- Labor & Delivery: 1:1
- Post-partum: 1:1 to 1:3
- Staffing follows AWHONN guidelines
Required Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM)
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Wisconsin
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 1 year of recent Labor Delivery Recovery & Postpartum (LDRP) experience
- Ability to interpret fetal heart tracings
- Ability to circulate for cesarean sections
- Labor and Delivery experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) certification
Orientation and Scheduling
- Orientation: 1-3 shifts based on comfort level
- Weekend rotation: once per month
- Time off: up to 7 days approved
- Call: not required unless voluntarily taken
- Holiday coverage: 1 summer holiday and 1 winter holiday expected
Unit Support
- Charge nurse may have an assignment but often remains available
- Obstetrician and anesthesia available on call 24/7
- Phlebotomy team support
- Fetal monitoring performed without telemetry technology
Equipment and Systems
- EPIC electronic health record system (preferred)
- Alaris infusion pumps
- Pyxis medication dispensing system
Additional Information
- Floating limited to Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum (LDRP) areas only
- Scrubs provided by facility
