Registered Nurse - Oncology

Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 26 weeks

Unit Information

• Unit: Oncology/Women’s Surgical
• Floor: 9th, Building K
• Number of Beds: 24
• Staff per Shift:

  • Day: 1 CNC, 4-6 RNs, 2 CNAs, 1 HUC
  • Night: 1 CNC, 4-6 RNs, 2 CNAs
• Patient Ratios: 1:4 or 1:5
• Equipment: Standard unit equipment
• EMR System: Cerner

Job Responsibilities & Procedures

• Occasional pelvic exams
• Echo
• Thoracentesis

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
• Minimum 2 years of Oncology nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• BLS certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Preferred Qualifications

• Chemotherapy certification (preferred but not required)

Work Environment & Culture

• Team-oriented, willing to learn personality preferred
• Dress Code:

  • RNs: Navy, white, or combination of both colors
  • CNAs: Galaxy Blue
• Floating: Rarely floats; may float to other med-surg units
• Call: Rare call required
• Weekend Work: Required to work 6 weekend days per schedule
• Unit follows basic hospital policies and guidelines

This position is ideal for an RN with oncology experience seeking a travel assignment in a supportive, team-focused environment with a moderate patient ratio and standard oncology unit procedures.
