Ultrasound Tech - General (Travel/Contract)
Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Work setting includes High Risk OB & Outpatient GE clinics.
- Perform general ultrasound exams including abdominal aorta, appendix, breast, gallbladder, liver, pancreas, pediatric abdomen/pelvis, spleen.
- OB/GYN ultrasound skills required for 1st, 2nd & 3rd trimester, amniotic fluid index, fetal anatomical survey, placenta previa.
- Neonatal ultrasound skills include bone lengths, cerebellum, ventricles, head, and heart.
- Renal/pelvis ultrasound skills include bladder, hernia, ovaries, prostate, renal/bladder, uterus, vaginal.
- Small parts ultrasound skills include breast cyst aspiration, breast ultrasound, superficial masses, testicles/scrotum, thyroid.
- Preferred additional OB/GYN skill: Nuchal Translucency Screen.
- Must be a registered diagnostic medical sonographer.
- Use of GE ultrasound equipment required.
- Unit uses EPIC electronic health record system.
- Float requirement: Yes.
- No call or weekend requirements.
- Shift: Monday to Friday, 7:45 AM to 4:30 PM with a 45-minute meal break.
- Scrubs: Not provided; any color acceptable.
- Contract staff may be assigned to Storm/Hurricane Teams and may be required to report during catastrophic events or disasters.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Ultrasound Technologist license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of ultrasound technologist experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience in an outpatient setting
- ARDMS certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Background check within 6 months for clinical candidates.
- Drug screening (9-panel) within 6 months of start.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start; additional documentation required if past positive TB.
- Immunizations and titers: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella per standard requirements.
- Physical exam and references per travel agency standards.
- Competency exams and color blindness testing as applicable.
- Facility-specific documents including confidentiality agreement, medication safety training, annual compliance training, and education rosters.
- Photo for badge (passport style, white background, business attire) required immediately after signing contract to avoid start delays.
- Must complete online orientation and training modules as required by the facility.
- Must complete Corp ID setup and I-Learn login within 24 hours of receiving email instructions to avoid start delays.
Additional Notes
- Interview with hiring manager required prior to offer.
- Candidate must provide interview availability within 72 hours of submission.
- Radiation badge required only if applicable to specialty (not typical for this role).
- Candidates must comply with all facility policies and mandatory education requirements.
Work Environment
- Clinic-based with exposure to high-risk obstetrics and outpatient gynecology patients.
- May require flexibility to float to other units as needed.
- No weekend or on-call shifts.
