Description
Registered Nurse - Radiology
Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36 (4 shifts of 10 hours each)
Unit and Work Environment
- Unit: Radiology Nursing, 24 beds
- Patient Ratios:
- Pre/post procedure: 3-4 patients per nurse
- Intraprocedural: 1:1 nurse to patient ratio
- CNA support available in pre/post areas
- Equipment: IV pumps, specialty beds, bedside monitors, telemetry boxes
- Documentation system: Cerner
- Scheduling:
- 4 ten-hour shifts per week
- On-call 4-5 weekday nights per 6-week schedule
- On-call every 10th-11th weekend
- No floating; flexible scheduling based on volume
- Dress code: Green hospital-issued scrubs
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of Interventional Radiology experience, including experience within the last year
- Current certifications: ACLS, PALS, BLS
- Experience in Radiology nursing, including chest tubes management
- Clinical experience in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Emergency Department (ED) settings
Procedures and Skills
- Procedures performed on unit include Interventional Radiology (IR), invasive CT, and invasive ultrasound cases
- Advanced skills needed: ACLS and PALS certification

- The unit participates in Code Trauma and Code Stroke programs
- The hospital is a Comprehensive Stroke Center
- The team uses new equipment and technology relevant to radiology nursing
- Experienced staff with tenure in the unit
- Flexible scheduling options available based on patient volume
This position is ideal for nurses with critical care or emergency experience who are interested in procedural radiology nursing within a specialized, well-supported unit.
