Description

Registered Nurse - Radiology

Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36 (4 shifts of 10 hours each)


Unit and Work Environment

  • Unit: Radiology Nursing, 24 beds
  • Patient Ratios:
    • Pre/post procedure: 3-4 patients per nurse
    • Intraprocedural: 1:1 nurse to patient ratio
  • CNA support available in pre/post areas
  • Equipment: IV pumps, specialty beds, bedside monitors, telemetry boxes
  • Documentation system: Cerner
  • Scheduling:
    • 4 ten-hour shifts per week
    • On-call 4-5 weekday nights per 6-week schedule
    • On-call every 10th-11th weekend
  • No floating; flexible scheduling based on volume
  • Dress code: Green hospital-issued scrubs

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 2 years of Interventional Radiology experience, including experience within the last year
  • Current certifications: ACLS, PALS, BLS
  • Experience in Radiology nursing, including chest tubes management
  • Clinical experience in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Emergency Department (ED) settings

Procedures and Skills

  • Procedures performed on unit include Interventional Radiology (IR), invasive CT, and invasive ultrasound cases
  • Advanced skills needed: ACLS and PALS certification

Additional Information

  • The unit participates in Code Trauma and Code Stroke programs
  • The hospital is a Comprehensive Stroke Center
  • The team uses new equipment and technology relevant to radiology nursing
  • Experienced staff with tenure in the unit
  • Flexible scheduling options available based on patient volume

This position is ideal for nurses with critical care or emergency experience who are interested in procedural radiology nursing within a specialized, well-supported unit.
