Description

Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location

  • Arlington, Virginia

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Schedule

  • 4 days per week, 10-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM)
  • Call requirement: 10-12 primary/back-up on-call shifts every six weeks (mix of weekdays and weekends)
  • On-call response time: 30 minutes

Job Description

  • Provide conscious sedation medications and patient monitoring
  • Perform pre-procedural timeouts
  • Utilize critical care nursing skills in a busy Interventional Radiology (IR) department
  • Experience with thrombectomies required
  • Must be able to take call

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia
  • Minimum 3 years of Interventional Radiology nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Current ACLS certification
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Experience with conscious sedation
  • Stroke nursing experience
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system
  • Prior travel nursing experience

Vaccination Requirements

  • Flu vaccine required during flu season (October 1 – March 31)
  • Medical or religious flu vaccine exemptions allowed with proper documentation and agency approval

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried during hours of service
  • Proof of E-Verify or attestation
  • Background checks including:
    • 7-year criminal history check covering all locations lived/worked
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
    • Education verification
  • Drug screening: Negative 11-panel drug test within 30 days of start (must be completed within 48 hours of signing)
  • Physical exam within one year of start, including assessment of ability to meet physical demands
  • Fit mask test within last 12 months (specific mask types accepted)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within one year of start, with annual TB questionnaire
  • Immunizations or positive titers for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (vaccination series, positive titer, or signed declination)
    • Varicella
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (if applicable to unit)
  • Completion of facility-specific documents and acknowledgements prior to start, including but not limited to:
    • Confidentiality and Information Security Agreement
    • Code of Ethics & Acknowledgement
    • Dress Code
    • Hand Hygiene and Infection Control
    • Parking forms and policies
    • Vendor Access Request (VAR) form and background check through facility system
    • Online orientation and attestations
    • Mission and Vision Statement
    • National Patient Safety Goals
    • Information Security Core Policy
  • Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
  • Skills checklist and competency exams as applicable, including medication/pharmacology and dysrhythmia/EKG competency

Additional Notes

  • Manager allows no more than one week of time off during the contract
  • Call volume may decrease as staff and traveler numbers increase
  • Candidates must wear both agency and facility badges at all times
  • EPIC training modules may be required prior to or onsite at start
  • COVID-19 precautions may apply

This position is ideal for experienced neuro or procedural ICU nurses with thrombectomy and conscious sedation expertise seeking a 13-week travel assignment in Interventional Radiology.
