Description
Registered Nurse - Med Surg (Travel Assignment)
Location: Denver, Colorado
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36
Unit Information
- Unit: 5 Central/Med/Onc
- Number of Beds: 30
- Number of Staff: 53
- RN Staffing Ratio: Approximately 1:6 on both day and night shifts
- Typical Patient Ratios: 1:1 to 3:1 (estimated, not guaranteed)
- Equipment: Remote telemetry
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System: Meditech
Job Description
- Provide nursing care on a medical/surgical unit with oncology patients
- Typical procedures on unit include cholecystectomy, appendectomy, and medical management
- Work independently or with one other RN; resources available on the floor but not on the unit
- Outgoing personality with a "can do" attitude and strong customer service skills preferred
- Confidence and independence in clinical judgment required
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Colorado
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience in hospital acute care medical/surgical and telemetry nursing
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- De-escalation skills in a healthcare setting
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with both surgical and medical patients
- Experience with mom/baby care including NRP is a plus
Additional Notes
- The unit is competitive for staffing; candidates with the preferred skills will be prioritized
- Schedule options include 7 PM to 7 AM shifts
- The unit values staff with strong independence and excellent customer service skills
