Registered Nurse – Cardiac Cath

Job Summary

Provide nursing care in the Pre/Post Angio department, managing procedural cases in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab, Interventional Radiology, and Electrophysiology. Typical patient cases include STEMI, stroke, drain and line placements, heart caths, peripheral angiograms, IVC placement, temporary pacemaker insertion, TEEs, cardioversions, and EP studies.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Illinois
• Cardiac Cath Lab experience within the last year (0 years of experience acceptable)
• ACLS certification
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing

Work Environment & Equipment

• Department has 6 pre/post procedure beds
• Average 4-6 cases per day
• EMR system: Epic
• Monitoring equipment: Philips
• Charge nurse present on shift who may also take patient assignments
• Cath Lab Technicians available
• Hospital scrubs provided
• Orientation: Approximately 1 week (4 shifts; typically 3 twelve-hour shifts plus call)
• 12-hour shifts with possibility of staying late depending on case volume

Additional Notes

• Local rate adjustments apply for clinicians living within 50 miles
• Call off policy allows 12 hours off every 13 weeks without penalty or shift payment requirement
• Orientation hours (12 hours) are non-billable and guaranteed hours do not apply during this period

Experience Requirements

• Specialty experience: Cardiac Cath nursing (minimum 1 year or as preferred by employer)
• Prior travel experience: Not specified / not required
