Medical Lab Technician Travel/Contract Position
Location: Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Mid shift, 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM (7 days on, 7 days off)
Hours: 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week
Job Description
- Travel assignment with no local candidates accepted
- Must have prior travel experience
Required Qualifications
- Valid Medical Lab Technician license in Louisiana
- Medical Lab Technician with 1 year of experience
- Medical Lab Technician experience within the last year
Certifications & Competencies
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – AHA Provider, Instructor, or RQI acceptable
- Competency exams as required by profession/specialty
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as required
Background Checks & Compliance
- Criminal background check (updated if no assignment within last 90 days)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM check required
- HHS/OIG check required
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 1 year, with appropriate follow-up documentation if positive or BCG vaccinated
- Annual respirator fit testing (fit mask)
- 12-panel drug screen within 90 days prior to start (includes amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, marijuana, MDMA, methadone, opiates, oxycodone, PCP, tricyclic antidepressants)
- Influenza vaccination documentation or approved medical/religious exemption form (facility-specific)
- COVID-19 vaccination exemption forms accepted for medical or religious reasons (facility-specific)
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Completion of Healthstream courses during orientation, including glucose testing return demonstration before performing accuchecks
- Signed System Access and Confidentiality Agreement prior to start
Additional Notes
- This position requires working a 7 on/7 off schedule during the mid shift
- Candidates must be prepared to comply with all facility-specific documentation and health requirements prior to start
- No local candidates; prior travel experience is mandatory for consideration
