Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Post Partum
Location: Issaquah, Washington
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (4 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 48
Unit Overview
- Post-partum care for vaginal or cesarean deliveries
- Tubal ligation and circumcision procedures
- Gynecological surgeries
- Couplet care (mother and newborn)
- Low risk antepartum and labor & delivery (L&D)
- Transition nursery care
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington State
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, including at least 2 years in Post Partum care
- Post Partum experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Experience in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
Required Certifications
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) (verify per clinical track)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) (verify per clinical track)
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification or equivalent (AWHONN or NCC) for L&D RNs
- Other certifications may be required based on clinical track and unit
Required Skills and Competencies
- CPAP/BiPAP management
- Blood and blood products administration
- Use of cooling/warming blankets
- Obtaining 12-lead EKGs
- Management of drains, epidural pumps, PCA pumps, syringe pumps
- Wound VAC care
- Administration of Heparin, Insulin, Magnesium Sulfate
- OB-GYN post-op care, scrub and circulate in cesarean sections and L&D procedures
- Attendance at all deliveries
- Medication and pharmacology competency exams as applicable
- Annual competency exams and skills checklists for applicable units
Floating Requirements
- May be required to float to NICU or Labor & Delivery units
- Floating policy acknowledgment required
Work Schedule
- Night shift, 4 shifts per week, 12 hours per shift
- Weekend work required to meet staffing needs
Licensure
- NURSYS verification required
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Fit mask test (respirator clearance) required annually for travel nurses
- Immunizations and/or proof of immunity or declination for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B (vaccination series or signed declination)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
- COVID-19 vaccination documentation preferred (declinations accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
Background and Verification Requirements
- Background check within 90 days of start covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Education verification required (nursing degree verification mandatory)
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years of employment
- Minimum of 2 professional references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting
- State-specific background checks and registries as required by Washington State law
- Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (instant acceptable)
Facility and System Specific Requirements
- Passport-style badge photo with neutral background required
- Completion of annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS (Workramp)
- EPIC training modules completion required within one week of orientation
- Compliance with floating policy and other facility-specific forms
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be prepared for weekend shifts and possible floating to related units
- All certifications and competencies must be current and verifiable
- Candidates with international education must provide additional documentation (transcripts, CGFNS, etc.)
- Return candidates with less than 90-day gap may have some requirements waived or extended
This position offers an opportunity to work in a specialized mother-baby care environment with a focus on post-partum and low-risk antepartum care, requiring experienced and certified RNs comfortable with night shifts and flexible floating assignments.
