Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Post Partum
Location: Issaquah, Washington
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
Hours per Week: 36
Unit Description
- Care for postpartum patients after vaginal or cesarean delivery
- Tubal ligation and circumcision procedures
- GYN surgeries
- Couplet care (mother and newborn)
- Low risk antepartum and labor/delivery
- Transition nursery care
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington State
- Minimum 2 years of Maternal-Newborn nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Current PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
- Current EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) certification
- Experience in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
- Experience in Labor and Delivery
Required Certifications
- Additional certifications may be required based on clinical track (e.g., ACLS)
Clinical Skills & Competencies
Must be proficient in:
- CPAP/BiPAP management
- Blood and blood products administration
- Use of cooling/warming blankets
- Obtaining 12-lead EKGs
- Managing drains, epidural pumps, PCA pumps, syringe pumps
- Wound VAC care
- Administration of Heparin, Insulin, Magnesium Sulfate
- OB-GYN post-op care, scrub and circulate in cesarean sections and low-risk labor/delivery
- Attend all deliveries
- Floating to NICU or Labor & Delivery units may be required
- Weekend shifts required to meet staffing needs
Required Licensure
- NURSYS verification required as applicable
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID and Social Security card
- Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; must be updated annually
- E-Verify attestation required
- State-specific searches including WA State Patrol Search within 90 days of start
- Education verification for nursing degree (international education requires diploma/transcript)
- Drug screening (9-panel) within 12 months of start
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- TDAP vaccine within 10 years (declination accepted)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season (declination accepted)
- COVID vaccination documentation preferred (declinations not required)
- Respiratory safety clearance annually for respirator use (travel only)
- Fit mask testing required for travel nurses (updated annually)
Additional Requirements
- Minimum of 2 professional references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years
- Employment application covering at least the last 5 years of employment with explanations for any gaps or overlaps
- Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units
- Completion of required annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS (Workramp)
- Passport-style badge photo with neutral background required
Notes
- Floating to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance may be required
- Weekend shifts are mandatory to meet staffing needs
- Candidates must be able to attend all deliveries on the unit
This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with prior travel experience who are comfortable working in a fast-paced mother-baby/postpartum environment and have the required certifications and clinical skills.
