Charge Nurse (House Supervisor) - Night Shifts

Location: Mauston, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night shifts (6:00 pm – 6:30 am) every other weekend, with holiday rotation as needed
Hours per Week: 36

Job Summary

The Charge Nurse coordinates and evaluates safe and effective patient care by facilitating communication across departments and disciplines. This role acts as a nursing resource and liaison among hospital departments, patients, visitors, and administration. Responsibilities include mentoring staff, ensuring compliance with regulatory and policy standards, and promoting quality care and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee communication and coordination of patient care across multiple departments including Acute Care, Birthing Center, Cancer, Wound and Infusion, Emergency Department, and Surgery.
• Conduct daily rounding to assess and communicate patient transfers and manage patient flow between departments.
• Serve as a resource and mentor to nursing staff, answering questions and assisting with interventions.
• Assist Directors with behavioral expectations and follow-up communication.
• Provide direct patient care support as needed and ensure adequate staffing coverage.
• Retrieve necessary patient care items from other departments.
• Assist with patient placement decisions for Acute Care admissions.
• Support after-hours Pharmacy needs.
• Activate and manage Incident Command during Mass Casualty Incidents.
• Coordinate staffing needs between departments.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin.
• Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing.
• Minimum of 3 years of related nursing experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of House Supervisor experience, including experience within the last year.
