Behavioral Health Registered Nurse (RN) - Nights

Location: Centreville, Illinois
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night shift (6:30 PM – 7:00 AM), includes every other weekend and holidays
Hours per Week: 36

Job Summary

• Manage and coordinate nursing care activities for behavioral health clients aged 18 and older during hospitalization.
• Perform assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care.
• Direct and supervise other personnel involved in client care.
• Maintain professional accountability and demonstrate nursing judgment.

Essential Functions

• Organize and coordinate nursing care delivery for assigned clients.
• Provide direct client care as needed, following department and organizational policies.
• Communicate effectively, requiring regular talking and hearing.
• Stand for 4-6 hours per shift and maintain concentrated attention.
• Adjust vision to focus on objects as needed.
• Lift up to 25 pounds when assisting or turning clients.
• Perform bending, stooping, walking, and use proper body mechanics to prevent injury.
• Administer medications accurately and record appropriately.
• Comply with infection control and safety policies.
• Provide emergency care when necessary.
• Participate in orientation, in-service training, and departmental meetings.
• Conduct group therapies and participate in multidisciplinary treatment planning.
• Monitor clients continuously for safety and harmful contraband.
• Maintain confidentiality, privacy, safety, and security of clients.
• Adapt to changes in work assignments and environment.
• Assist with light housekeeping tasks as needed.
• Support and promote team collaboration and organizational philosophy.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Minimum of 2 years of behavioral health nursing experience.
• Behavioral health experience within the last year.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred or equivalent years of experience.
• Ability to operate standard office equipment and computer software (MS Office applications).

Physical Demands

• Requires grasping and reaching with hands and arms.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
• Requires bending, stooping, walking, and standing for extended periods.

Additional Information

• CPI Nonviolent Crisis Intervention with Advanced Physical Skills (APS) certification is required.
• Prior travel experience is not specified as required.

This position requires a dedicated behavioral health nurse capable of working night shifts in a fast-paced environment, providing comprehensive care and support to adult clients with behavioral health needs.
