Description

Registered Nurse – Emergency Room (ER)

Location: Bloomington, Indiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift Options:
    • 3 shifts of 12 hours (Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
    • 4 shifts of 12 hours
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Floating: May float to nearby sister facilities as needed (rarely)
  • Holiday Requirement: Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
  • Guaranteed Hours:
    • 3x12 hr shifts = 36 hours/week
    • 4x12 hr shifts = 48 hours/week
    • 8 and 10 hr shifts also available totaling 40 hours/week

Required Qualifications

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse – Emergency Room
  • Minimum Experience: 2-3 years of ER experience (required for first-time travelers)
  • Certifications (AHA only, RQI acceptable where noted):
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
    • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
    • NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale Certification)
  • Valid Indiana RN license with online verification within 30 days of start
  • Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy required)
  • Negative 10 Panel Drug Screen within 12 months of start (includes Amphetamines, Marijuana, Cocaine, Opiates, PCP; instant tests not accepted)
  • Physical exam completed within 12 months of start
  • Fit Mask Test within 12 months of start with approved respirators (3M N95 models or Honeywell N95)
  • Immunizations and Titers:
    • Tuberculosis test (PPD, QuantiFERON-TB Gold, or T-SPOT) within 1 year of start
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
    • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted; history of disease not accepted
    • Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap preferred but not required
    • Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/30 – 3/31); declinations not accepted
  • Competency Exams:
    • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required
    • Unit competency exam required
    • Color Blind Testing (Ishihara exam or equivalent) with 100% minimum score
  • Background Checks:
    • Must include 7 years of residence/work history with SSN trace, county, state, national sex offender, FACIS Level III, education verification, and international search if applicable
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
  • Employment History:
    • Current employment application with 7 years of work history and explanations for gaps over 30 days
    • Minimum of 2 references from recent employment verified within 2 years; references must be from charge, manager, supervisor, or above
  • Facility-specific forms and acknowledgments must be completed as a priority prior to start

Additional Information

  • Locals are not accepted for this position
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
  • Orientation and compliance documents must be completed timely
  • On-site fit testing is a last resort and requires approval
  • PAPR use requires prior facility approval except at certain campuses where it is automatically approved
