Registered Nurse (OB / L&D)

Location: Eau Claire, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Overview

• Labor & Delivery unit with:

  • 8 L&D beds
  • 1 OR suite for C-sections
  • 1 triage bed
  • 12 postpartum beds
• Approximately 100-120 births per month (1300-1400 per year)
• Follow AWHONN guidelines for nurse-to-patient ratios
• Separate LDRP units; nurse will care for both labor and postpartum patients including couplets (moms and babies)
• No in-house OB/Neonatologist 24/7
• Anesthesia available in-house 24/7
• Respiratory equipment (CPAP, BiPAP, vents) primarily for newborns with separate respiratory staff
• Fetal monitoring system: Fetalink
• Telemetry strips read by techs on another unit (GE monitors)

Schedule & Work Hours

• Night shift, 12-hour shifts
• 36 hours per week
• Self-scheduling available
• Weekend requirement: every 3rd Friday, Saturday, Sunday
• No call or standby requirement
• Potential to float to other units as a sitter within the same rotation

Requirements / Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Wisconsin
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, with experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
• Experience with LDRP (Labor Delivery Recovery & Postpartum) care model

Clinical Responsibilities

• RNs are required to titrate drips such as oxytocin, insulin, and magnesium
• Travel RNs typically not assigned charge nurse duties
• Work alongside nurse aides and surgical techs on the unit
• Must clock in and out at the facility

Orientation

• 3-day unit-specific orientation:

  • 1 day online training
  • 1 day labor unit
  • 1 day postpartum unit
• Orientation hours: 1900-1730

• Candidates living within 80 miles of the facility may have adjusted pay rates (not included here)
• If previously employed at this facility, must have ended employment at least 6 months prior to submission
• Scrubs provided
