Description
Registered Nurse (OB / L&D)
Location: Eau Claire, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Overview
- Labor & Delivery unit with:
- 8 L&D beds
- 1 OR suite for C-sections
- 1 triage bed
- 12 postpartum beds
- Approximately 100-120 births per month (1300-1400 per year)
- Follow AWHONN guidelines for nurse-to-patient ratios
- Separate LDRP units; nurse will care for both labor and postpartum patients including couplets (moms and babies)
- No in-house OB/Neonatologist 24/7
- Anesthesia available in-house 24/7
- Respiratory equipment (CPAP, BiPAP, vents) primarily for newborns with separate respiratory staff
- Fetal monitoring system: Fetalink
- Telemetry strips read by techs on another unit (GE monitors)
Schedule & Work Hours
- Night shift, 12-hour shifts
- 36 hours per week
- Self-scheduling available
- Weekend requirement: every 3rd Friday, Saturday, Sunday
- No call or standby requirement
- Potential to float to other units as a sitter within the same rotation
Requirements / Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Wisconsin
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, with experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Experience with LDRP (Labor Delivery Recovery & Postpartum) care model
Clinical Responsibilities
- RNs are required to titrate drips such as oxytocin, insulin, and magnesium
- Travel RNs typically not assigned charge nurse duties
- Work alongside nurse aides and surgical techs on the unit
- Must clock in and out at the facility
Orientation
- 3-day unit-specific orientation:
- 1 day online training
- 1 day labor unit
- 1 day postpartum unit
- Orientation hours: 1900-1730
Additional Notes
- Candidates living within 80 miles of the facility may have adjusted pay rates (not included here)
- If previously employed at this facility, must have ended employment at least 6 months prior to submission
