Description
Registered Nurse – Cardiac Cath Lab
Location: Rockford, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days (9-hour shifts)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Job Summary
Provide nursing care in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab, supporting a variety of cardiac and neuro interventional procedures including STEMI, PCI, diagnostic coronary angiography, electrophysiology studies, ablations, device implants, and acute stroke interventions.
Department Details
- 5 suites/labs
- Average daily cases: Coronary (5), Neuro (1), Electrophysiology (3), Interventional Radiology (16)
- Cath Lab Techs assist by scrubbing and monitoring cases
- Manager/Charge Nurse present on each shift
Schedule & Call Requirements
- Monday to Friday, 9-hour shifts with one rotating day off each week
- Rotating weekday and weekend call coverage based on department staffing needs
- Call hours include any time outside Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:30 PM, including 24-hour call shifts on weekends
- Holiday call required if holiday falls during contract period
- Floating within the Cath Lab department only (Coronary, Neuro IR, Electrophysiology, Interventional Radiology, Prep & Recovery)
Required Certifications and Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of Cardiac Cath Lab nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

- Epic EMR
- Change Healthcare (formerly McKesson)
- Lifepak 20
Orientation
- Individualized based on previous experience
- Typically includes 1–2 days in each procedural area
Additional Information
- Hospital provides surgical scrubs
- Drug-free campus; negative drug screen required
- Active Illinois nursing license required or proof that application process has been initiated
