Description
Registered Nurse – Step Down Unit (Travel/Contract)
Location: Wynnewood, Pennsylvania
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Work in PCU/Stepdown unit with rotating shifts (Night or Day, 3 shifts of 12 hours each)
- Patient ratio: 1 nurse to 3-4 patients
- Floating within scope to similar units may be required
- Weekend shifts required every third weekend
- Guaranteed hours
Required Experience & Skills
- Valid RN license in Pennsylvania
- Minimum 2 years of Stepdown nursing experience, with at least 1 year of recent Stepdown experience
- Experience managing drips including insulin, nicardipine, dexmedetomidine, and nitroglycerin
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Required Certifications
- Current RN license for Pennsylvania
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSS) within 2 years
Facility & Work Environment
- Acute Care, Level II Teaching Hospital
- Total staffed beds: 370
- Charting system: Epic
- Scrub color: Navy Blue
Additional Requirements
- Criminal background check within 6 months prior to start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Education verification (diploma, degree, or transcripts) required
- Drug screening: 10-panel within 45 days of start, updated annually
- Physical exam or statement of good health within 1 year prior to assignment
- Fit mask test within 1 year prior to start, updated annually
- Immunizations/vaccinations required:
- Tdap (recommended every 10 years)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) or positive titers
- Varicella or positive titer
- Hepatitis B titer and vaccine series or declination
- Negative TB test (QuantiFERON Gold or T-Spot) within 6 months prior to start (PPD not accepted)
- Annual TB questionnaire for positive TB test or in lieu of annual TB test renewal
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved exemption required during flu season (Sept–April 1)
- Respirator clearance within 1 year prior to start, updated annually
- References: 3 required (most recent manager, previous manager, and peer; charge RN references only if direct supervisor)
- Employment application and skills checklist required
- State-specific clearances for Pennsylvania including child abuse search and fingerprint results
Shift Details
- Night Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (3 shifts/week)
- Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM (3 shifts/week)
Notes
- Pending licenses are not accepted
- Return staff must disclose previous work locations and dates if applicable
- On-call is not required
- Restrictions on return to work are at manager’s discretion
This position is ideal for experienced RNs comfortable with critical drips and stepdown care in a teaching hospital environment, able to work rotating shifts with weekend requirements.
