Job Opportunity: Nuclear Medicine Tech

Location: New Brunswick, New Jersey
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology (Nuclear Medical Technician)
  • Shift: Day shift, 7:30 AM – 6:00 PM (4 days a week, 10 hours per day)
  • Number of cases per day: 6-8
  • Work setting: Outpatient clinic
  • Schedule: Block scheduling permitted, Monday to Friday
  • Weekends: Not required
  • On-call: Not required
  • Locals and first-time travelers accepted

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist
  • Experience within the last year as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist
  • Experience in outpatient and clinic settings
  • Experience with adult outpatient clinics and nuclear cardiology procedures including:
    • GE systems
    • Gastric emptying
    • Bone scans
    • Liver imaging
    • Perfusion and ventilation scans
    • Captopril studies
    • Myocardial scans
    • SPECT imaging (Bone, Thyroid, Cardiac)
  • Charting system: EPIC

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • Valid Nuclear Medicine Technologist license in New Jersey
  • ARRT certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID and driver’s license required within 48 hours of signing
  • Criminal background check within 30 days of start, including:
    • Alias checks
    • Nationwide and state searches
    • Sex offender registry
    • Federal and county checks
  • Drug screen within 30 days of start (10-panel urine test)
  • Employment application or resume with 7 years of work history
  • Work history verification for at least 1 year prior to start (NJ state requirement)
  • Two professional references within last 2 years (one managerial)
  • Mandatory annual education and compliance training (OSHA, HIPAA, Joint Commission)
  • Facility-specific floating policy acknowledgment

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months prior to start, cleared to perform essential job functions and free of communicable disease
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes
  • Influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption annually
  • Hepatitis B immunity verification or vaccine compliance
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) immunity verification or vaccination
  • Varicella immunity verification or vaccination
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination within last 10 years
  • Respiratory medical clearance and on-site fit testing (mandatory, updated annually)
  • Latex allergy screening questionnaire if job tasks require glove use
  • Color vision exam if job tasks require color discrimination
  • Drug testing as per facility requirements

Competency & Testing Requirements

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam within 72 hours of signing, valid within 12 months
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam as applicable, with a maximum of 3 attempts allowed
  • IV Therapy/Infusion exam required for all RNs (not applicable here but noted for reference)
  • Pass/fail testing for EKG and medication exams with remediation process if needed

Additional Notes

  • Scrub color: Any color allowed
  • Prior travel experience: Not required
  • No weekend or on-call duties
  • Must complete facility-specific annual education and sign-offs prior to start
  • Must comply with facility’s COVID-19 and infection control policies (not detailed here)
