Description

Job Opportunity: Case Manager (Travel/Contract)

Location: Reidsville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Day, Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM (5x8 hour shifts)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Case management and utilization review responsibilities including discharge planning, needs assessment, ordering durable medical equipment (DME), and care planning.
  • Experience with regulatory requirements, specifically CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services).

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Minimum 2 years of case management experience, with case management experience within the last year.
  • Completion of at least one travel assignment.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Experience with CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in discharge planning.
  • Experience in ICU (Intensive Care Unit), Medical-Surgical (Med Surg), PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), Step-Down Unit, Progressive Care Unit (PCU), and Intermediate Care settings.
  • Proficiency with Epic electronic health record system.

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • Pass/Fail EKG competency exam required for all RNs.
  • Additional certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP, NIH Stroke Certification) — verify with unit leadership.
  • Primary source license verification required within 30 days of start.
  • NURSYS verification required within 60 days of start.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong case management skills including discharge planning and care coordination.
  • Ability to comply with strict scheduling policies (zero tolerance for tardiness and unexcused absences).

Compliance & Background Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID and Social Security card required for badge issuance.
  • Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years, including aliases, criminal, sex offender, federal court, and education verification.
  • Foreign equivalency evaluation required if education was obtained outside the U.S.
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start.
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • Adult Tdap vaccine proof
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 6 months
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B titer or declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season
  • Fit mask test (N95) completed within current calendar year and updated annually.

Documentation & Verification

  • Employment application/resume with 7-year work history required.
  • Verification of all employment within the last 5 years through a third-party vendor.
  • Two supervisory references required from clinical positions (one within 12 months, one within 24 months).
  • Annual skills checklist with a one-week grace period for renewal.

Facility & Onboarding Requirements

  • Completion of facility-specific documents including health history form, dress code review, floating policy, and contractor equipment acknowledgment.
  • Completion of EPIC test with passing score prior to clearance (2 attempts allowed, additional attempts require manager approval).
  • Orientation safety manual acknowledgment required.
  • Workday login and onboarding tasks must be completed before arrival.

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must be flexible with scheduling and aware of the zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences.
  • Candidates must be aware of the mandatory Pass/Fail EKG exam required for all RNs.
  • Fingerprinting requirements apply only to certain positions (e.g., home health, long-term care) and must be completed in North Carolina if applicable.
  • No first-time travelers accepted; prior travel experience is required.
