Description

Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery

Location:
Dulles, Virginia (Northern Virginia, ~30 miles outside Washington, DC)

Employment Type:
Travel Contract

Contract Length:
13 weeks


Unit Information

  • Labor & Delivery unit with:
    • 10 labor beds
    • 13 postpartum beds
    • 2 operating rooms
  • Staffing:
    • Typically 4-5 labor RNs and 2 postpartum RNs per shift
    • OB scrub tech and lactation consultants available
    • Level 2 NICU staffed 24/7 with 2 RNs
    • 24/7 in-house OB hospitalist and neonatology provider
  • Shifts:
    • Day and night shifts with similar staffing levels
  • Patient Ratios: Vary depending on labor stage
  • Equipment: Labor tubs for midwifery patients, fetal monitoring system
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems: Meditech and CPN

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Certifications:
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
    • Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN)
    • Basic Life Support (BLS)
    • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)

  • Labor and vaginal deliveries
  • Cesarean sections (C-sections)
  • Labor inductions
  • Obstetric emergency department triage

Additional Information

  • Floating: May assist in postpartum unit as needed
  • Dress Code: Scrubs provided by facility
  • On-call: One to two on-call shifts per month preferred
