Description

Ultrasound Tech Maternal Fetal (Travel/Contract)

Location: Christiansburg, Virginia
Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Overview

  • Role: OB Ultrasound Technician in an ambulatory setting
  • Primary responsibility: Perform OB patient scans
  • Equipment: Phillips experience preferred but not required

Schedule

  • Shift: 4 days per week, 9-hour shifts (7:45 AM – 5:15 PM)
  • Rotation: Mondays off one week, Fridays off the next (resulting in 4-day weekends twice a month)
  • No weekend, holiday, or on-call requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Maternal Fetal Medicine Sonography (1 year of experience)
  • Maternal Fetal Medicine Sonography experience within the last year
  • Ultrasound Technologist experience
  • One completed travel assignment
  • ARDMS
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association

Experience

  • Prior travel experience: Not accepted (first-time travelers not accepted)
  • Local candidates: Not accepted (radius restrictions apply)

Licensing & Documentation Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License or State ID with an address within 100 miles of the facility (required within 48 hours of signing)
  • E-Verify or attestation required
  • Background Check: 7-year history required within 1 year of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • Additional background screenings: EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals
  • Education Verification: Highest earned degree verification required
  • State License: Primary source verification within 30 days of start

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, confirming freedom from communicable diseases
  • Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSpot) or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
  • Required immunizations or positive titers for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
    • Varicella
  • Drug screen: Negative 10-panel within 30 days of start
  • Fit testing for masks within 1 year, updated annually (if applicable)
  • Flu vaccination documentation or mask/declination form during flu season

Additional Requirements

  • Two clinical references (hospital evaluations accepted)
  • Completed employment application/resume
  • Annual skills checklist update
  • Photo for badge (professional, plain background, no selfies or filters)
  • Completion of facility-specific compliance and confidentiality agreements within 48 hours of signing
  • Review and acknowledgment of contract staff orientation manual prior to start

Notes

  • Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
  • No call or holiday coverage required
  • Candidate must comply with radius restrictions based on driver’s license address
  • Orientation and onboarding paperwork must be completed prior to start

This position is ideal for experienced OB Ultrasound Technicians seeking a travel contract with a consistent day schedule and no on-call or weekend requirements. Prior travel experience is required.
