Description

Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Clinton, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Provide nursing care in a high-risk Labor and Delivery (L&D) setting.
  • Must have experience with high-risk pregnancies.
  • Responsibilities include circulating, fetal heart monitoring (FHM), precepting, charge nurse duties, and triage (preferred).
  • Float within related skillsets such as Mom/Baby and postpartum care.
  • Call requirement: 36 hours in 6 weeks (or 12 hours per pay period), must be on premises within 45 minutes of call.
  • Work every other weekend and every other holiday.

Required Certifications

  • C-EFM (Continuous Electronic Fetal Monitoring) through NCC (National Certification Corporation) at submission.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • STABLE certification

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland.
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience with high-risk patients, with at least some experience within the last year.
  • Completion of at least one prior travel nursing assignment.
  • ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • NRP certification.
  • C-EFM certification.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Experience in charge nurse roles.

Additional Requirements

  • Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years.
  • Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education, employment, license, and contact information.
  • Criminal background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years.
  • Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana).
  • Annual physical exam confirming ability to perform work without accommodations and free from communicable disease.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; if history of TB, additional documentation required.
  • Required immunizations or proof of immunity: MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tdap (within 10 years preferred).
  • Annual flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season (Sept 23 – Mar 31).
  • N95 fit test within 9 months of start and updated annually (client may complete onsite if needed).
  • Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start date.
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam and other competency exams as required.

Work Environment & Expectations

  • Must be able to respond to call within 45 minutes on-site.
  • Float to related units as needed (Mom/Baby, postpartum).
  • Work every other weekend and holiday.
  • Night shift schedule with 3 twelve-hour shifts per week.

This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs with prior travel experience seeking a high-acuity, high-risk L&D assignment on nights with call responsibilities.
