Description
Job Opportunity: Oncology Registered Nurse
Location: Saratoga Springs, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse – Oncology (Radiation Oncology focus)
- Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Weekly Hours: 36 hours
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, no weekends, holidays, or on-call required
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New York
- Minimum 3 years of oncology nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience in Radiation Oncology, including port access
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Additional Certifications & Training
- ACLS certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
- Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training (New York State requirement)
- Completion of facility-specific HealthStream orientation modules prior to start date
- Completion of medication/pharmacology competency exams as applicable
- Color blindness test preferred
- NIH Stroke Certification may be required depending on unit assignment
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start date; must complete onsite occupational health physical including a "TSH Medical History" form
- Negative TB test (2-step PPD or Quantiferon Gold) within 1 year; chest X-ray if prior positive PPD
- Proof of immunity or vaccination for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or vaccine series)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start (specific panels required)
- N95 fit test with OSHA questionnaire (quantitative test only accepted if done externally)
- Eye exam including Ishihara color deficiency test prior to start (can be completed onsite)
- Flu vaccine or approved exemption required annually during flu season
Location & Travel Restrictions
- Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of Saratoga Springs, NY
- Travel nurses with primary residence in the following counties are not eligible:
Warren, Washington, Fulton, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Albany, Columbia, Greene, Dutchess, Ulster
Documentation & Onboarding Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (driver’s license or state ID)
- Passport-style photo for badge (plain background, head and shoulders, no hats or sunglasses)
- Signed FCRA Authorization Release prior to start
- Lift assessment (minimum 10-25 lbs depending on position) completed during occupational health appointment
- Completion of facility-specific documents including ECG study guide, PPD questionnaire, N95 OSHA questionnaire, and others as required
- Two professional references required (within 2 years of start date) for travel, allied, or per diem acute care roles
Notes
- No local candidates accepted to ensure compliance with travel nurse policy
- Flu season runs from December 5th until declared over by NY State Department of Health or vaccine expiration
- Candidates must be prepared to complete all required testing and training within specified timeframes before starting
