Description
Registered Nurse – Kidney Transplant (Travel/Contract)
Location: Fairfax, Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 5 days per week, 8 hours per day (8:30 AM – 5:00 PM)
On Call/Weekend: No on call or weekend requirements
Float Requirement: None
Job Description
- Work in an outpatient clinic setting focused on kidney transplant patients
- May come into contact with COVID-19 patients
- Facility requires all travelers to have flu vaccination
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Virginia
- Minimum 2 years of transplant nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one prior travel nursing assignment
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience in a clinic setting
- Experience in an acute care setting
Orientation
- Orientation dates available: August 10 or August 24
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Valid driver’s license if driving on behalf of the employer is essential
- I9/E-Verify attestation required prior to start
- Criminal background check within 90 days, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks prior to and during assignment
- Education verification of highest degree required by position
- Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana), including multiple substances
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
- N95 fit test within 9 months of start, updated annually (client may complete onsite if needed)
- Immunization and health documentation including:
- Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, with additional requirements if history of TB
- Documentation of immunity or vaccination for Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR), Varicella, Hepatitis B
- Tdap vaccine within last 10 years preferred
- Annual competency exams including medication/pharmacology and dysrhythmia/EKG competency (with specific scoring requirements)
- Skills checklist and work history verification updated annually
Additional Notes
- No weekend or on-call duties required
- No float requirement
- Facility-specific modules (SITELS) must be completed prior to start date
- Photo for badge must meet specific criteria (clear, centered, no glare, solid background)
This position is ideal for experienced travel RNs with a background in medical-surgical nursing and prior travel assignments, seeking a day-shift role in kidney transplant outpatient care without weekend or on-call responsibilities.
