Description
Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel/Contract
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (OR RN Core 2)
- Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM)
- Average daily census: 70-80 patients
- Unit includes: General, Plastic, Gynecology, ENT, Trauma, Neuro, Ortho, GU, Colorectal Robotics
- Facility type: Short-Term Acute Care
- Scrub color provided
- Charting system: Cerner
- Free parking available
- Floating within scope required to meet facility needs (except CV & Transplant)
- On-call requirement: 40-60 hours per 6 weeks (variable)
- Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays during contract
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Indiana
- Minimum 3 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including OR experience within the last year
- Experience working with Level I Trauma patients
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Certifications (as applicable)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - required
- ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, Chemotherapy, EFM, NIH Stroke Certification may be required depending on assignment (verify with recruiter)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy)
- Background check within 90 days of start, including 7-year history and various national/statewide checks
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Official transcript or diploma verifying education (may be pending at start)
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required
- Unit competency exam required
- Color blind testing (Ishihara or equivalent) with 100% score required
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months (N95 or approved respirators)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap strongly recommended
- TB test (PPD, QuantiFERON-TB Gold, or T-SPOT) within 1 year; chest x-ray if positive history
- Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required for flu season (9/30 - 3/31); declinations not accepted
- HIPAA and facility-specific compliance forms must be completed prior to start
- Minimum of 2 professional references from recent employment, verified within 2 years, with supervisory titles
- Current employment application with full work history and explanations for gaps over 30 days
Additional Information
- Must be able to float within scope to other OR areas as needed
- Indiana RN travel restrictions apply after 11/30/2024, but Perioperative/OR RNs are exempt and may continue working past this date
- On-site fit testing available only as a last resort and with approval
- Facility requires completion of orientation packets and tests prior to start
- Candidates must be available for 2-3 days of interview scheduling
This position is ideal for experienced OR RNs with trauma experience seeking a travel contract in a Level I trauma short-term acute care setting.
