Description
Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Charlottesville, Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit & Patient Population
- 17-bed unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4
- Receives patients from Emergency Department, Medical ICU, clinics, outside hospitals, and nursing facilities
- Patient diagnoses include diabetes, sickle cell crisis, COPD exacerbations, ESRD with pulmonary hypertension, wounds, drains, tubes, and other medical conditions
Schedule & Hours
- Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM (4 shifts of 12 hours each per week)
- 48 hours per week offered (36 hours option available)
- Every other weekend required
- Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed
- Time off approval up to 40 hours; no time off approval around Labor Day
Required Experience & Skills
- Specialty: Registered Nurse
- Must have Epic electronic health record experience
- BLS required
- ACLS preferred but not required
- Must adhere to facility float policy
- Virginia nursing license required; can submit with license pending
Required Qualifications & Certifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia
- Minimum of 1 year of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Valid Driver's License
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Background & Compliance
- Fingerprinting required for certain units (Behavioral Health, Unit 5 East) with results prior to start
- Child Abuse and Neglect Registry check required for Behavioral Health and Unit 5 East candidates
- Education verification must be done through a third-party vendor
- Annual renewal of background checks and drug screening required
Additional Notes
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
- Performance evaluations and skills checklists must be current if previously employed with the agency
- Fit testing will be completed onsite if required for the unit
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification required only for Behavioral Health nurses (not applicable here)
