Description
Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Charlottesville, Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit & Patient Population
- 26-bed acute care unit
- Diverse patient population: 90% post-surgical (General Surgery and Trauma), 10% medical diagnoses
- All rooms equipped for cardiac monitoring, capnography/end-tidal CO2 monitoring, and continuous pulse oximetry
Schedule & Shift Details
- Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each)
- 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend and every other holiday required
- Labor Day weekend off cannot be approved
- Block scheduling is not guaranteed
- Up to 40 hours can be approved for time off
Required Experience & Skills
- Specialty: Registered Nurse
Required Qualifications & Certifications
- Valid RN license in Virginia
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 1 year of Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
- Ability to adhere to UVA's float policy
Background & Compliance
- 7-year criminal background check within 60 days of start, updated annually
- Federal exclusions and sanctions checks (EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG) within 30 days of start and updated every 30 days
- Child abuse registry check required if assigned to behavioral health or specific units (processed within 45 days prior to start)
- Fingerprinting required for behavioral health candidates; must be completed prior to start
- Education verification through third-party vendor
- Professional appearance guidelines must be reviewed and acknowledged
- Facility-specific compliance documents and screenings required prior to start
Health & Physical Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months attesting ability to meet job demands (physician/PA/NP signature required)
- Annual TB questionnaire if past positive TB test
- Fit testing for patient-facing clinical roles (completed onsite if required)
Additional Notes
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
- No block scheduling guarantee
- Must be able to work every other weekend and holiday as scheduled
