Registered Nurse – Emergency Room (ER) – Travel/Contract

Location: Olney, Maryland
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Provide nursing care in the Emergency Room setting for both adult and pediatric patients.
• Must have general ED experience with both adult and pediatric populations.
• Work schedule includes every other weekend and every other holiday.
• No on-call required.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland.
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
• Completion of at least one prior travel nursing assignment.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Experience working with both adult and pediatric patients in the ED setting.
• Certifications issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross:

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
• National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• Experience with Cerner electronic health record system.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Valid driver’s license if driving is an essential job function.
• Complete I9/E-Verify attestation prior to start.
• Criminal background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years.
• Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana).
• Annual physical exam confirming ability to perform job duties without accommodations and free from communicable disease.
• Immunizations and health documentation including:

  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (with additional requirements if history of TB)
  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years preferred
  • Documentation of immunity or vaccination for Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR), Varicella, and Hepatitis B
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season
• N95 Fit Test within 9 months of start, updated annually (client may complete onsite if needed).
• Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start date.

Additional Information

• Must complete medication/pharmacology competency exams scoring 80% or higher prior to start and updated every three years.
• Color blindness testing required (online or in-person).
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam must be updated annually.
• Skills checklist and work history verification required prior to start and updated annually.
• Employment application must include 7 years of work history with no gaps.

Work Environment & Expectations

• Night shift, 3 twelve-hour shifts per week (36 hours total).
• Every other weekend and holiday required.
• No on-call duties.
