Registered Nurse – Emergency Room (ER)
Facility: Northwest Hospital (LifeBridge Health)

Shift: Night 4x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:30)
Schedule: Every Other Weekend and Every Other Holiday
Charting System:
Float Required: Yes – Within hospital, within scope of practice
Call Requirement: None
Note: First-time travelers accepted. Navy Blue scrubs required. Maryland or Compact RN license required at submission.
Position Overview:
The Emergency Room Registered Nurse provides comprehensive emergency nursing care to neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients presenting with medical, surgical, traumatic, and behavioral health emergencies. The RN rapidly assesses, stabilizes, treats, and monitors patients while collaborating with the interdisciplinary team in a fast-paced Emergency Department.
Job Duties:
- Perform rapid triage, assessment, and stabilization of patients presenting with emergent and urgent conditions.
- Provide direct nursing care to patients with medical, surgical, neurological, cardiac, respiratory, pediatric, and trauma-related emergencies.
- Administer medications, blood products, IV fluids, vasopressors, and continuous IV sedation as ordered.
- Initiate and maintain peripheral IV access, perform phlebotomy, and manage central lines and arterial lines.
- Monitor cardiac rhythms, recognize dysrhythmias, and respond to emergency situations including STEMI and stroke alerts.
- Provide procedural sedation monitoring and assist with emergency procedures.
- Care for ventilated patients and manage oxygen therapy, BiPAP, and CPAP as appropriate.
- Perform neurological assessments for stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and other neurological emergencies.
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care.
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatments, discharge instructions, and follow-up care.
- Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to infection prevention and patient safety standards.
Requirements:
Licensure: Active Maryland RN License or Compact RN License required
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience required.
- 3 years of ED experience preferred.
- 2 years of experience from a high-volume Level I or Level II Trauma Center will be considered.
- One travel assignment preferred; first-time travelers accepted with 3+ years of ED experience.
- Community hospital experience required.
Certifications:
- BLS
- ACLS
- PALS
- NIHSS
- Prophecy Relias Advanced EKG
- CEN preferred
Other Requirement: Precepting and training experience preferred.
