Description
Registered Nurse – Telemetry
Location: Salem, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: Nights and Every Other Weekend (19:00 - 07:30)
Hours: 36 hours per week
Unit Overview
- 37-bed medical telemetry unit
- Patient population includes CHF, Atrial Fibrillation, Pulmonary Embolism, Pneumonia, alcohol-related conditions, dementia with cardiac co-morbidities, and occasional surgical patients
- Patients often on Cardizem, Nitroglycerin, Lasix, and Heparin drips
- Care for NSTEMI, post-pacemaker, and post-cardiac catheterization patients (with or without interventions)
Patient Care & Staffing
- RN-to-patient ratio:
- Day/Evening shifts: 1:4 (max 5)
- Night shift: 1:5-6
- Day shift includes a Charge RN without patient assignment
- Floating to other applicable units required when needed
- Night positions do not rotate; day rotators may rotate shifts occasionally (7a-7p, 11a-11p, or 7p-7a)
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Massachusetts
- Telemetry (2 years of experience)
- Telemetry experience within the last year
- 2 years or more of total travel experience
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- Telemetry Certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Knowledge of cardiac drips
Certifications & Compliance
- Current BLS and Telemetry certifications required before start
- Primary source verification of RN license and certifications within 30 days of start
- Fit test for N95 respirator within 1 year of start date (no exemptions allowed)
- Respirator Medical Clearance attestation required if fit test is needed
- Documentation of MMR immunity or vaccination required
- TB screening within 3 months of start date (skin test or blood test) and updated if break >6 months
- Physician health statement within 1 year of start date and updated if break >6 months
- Criminal background check, Massachusetts CORI, SSN trace, national sex offender check, and exclusion checks required within specified timeframes
- Passing scores on medication and dysrhythmia exams (80% minimum) within 1 year
Additional Requirements
- Must submit:
- Resume with 7 years of work history including city and state
- Two professional references (at least one supervisor) within 4 years
- Skills checklist completed within 1 year
- Candidate submission coversheet
- Must complete confirmation of assignment form upon acceptance and for any extensions

- Unit includes 10 semi-private rooms, 1 quadruple room, 1 triple room, 10 private rooms, and 1 negative pressure room
- Prior travel experience is required (minimum 2 years as a traveler)
- Night shift does not rotate; day shift rotation is infrequent
This position is ideal for experienced telemetry RNs comfortable with cardiac drips, telemetry strip interpretation, and caring for complex cardiac patients in a fast-paced telemetry unit.
